Scripture – Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him. See that you go on growing in the Lord, and become strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all he has done. Colossians 2:7
Thoughts about what this scripture means – I am firmly rooted in Christ and I am no being built up in Him.
Application to my life – I am thankful as a child my parents and others planted seeds of Christ in my life. Memorizing scripture since I was old enough to talk and truly learning about God gave me roots so that when I walked away I couldn’t go too far. Yes, my fruit faded, but I never completely disconnected from the vine.
When I cam back to Him, I learned about the ministry of Holy Spirit which again brought nourishment into my life. Four years later I would walk away again, if only for a short while as I sorted through what I believed. This time, when I came back I learned about having a truly personal relationship with Christ. I am thankful God has continued to nourish me and has grown my roots as my strength truly comes from Him.
I am rooted and grounded in Him. I know that I have to daily stay connected to Him. My Lord is continuing to build me up. He is filling me with joy and thanksgiving.
Response to the Lord – Lord, thank You for roots. Thank You for growth. Protect them both as I grow towards You. Fill me with Your joy and let Your thanksgiving always be on my lips for all You have done.
