He Rules

Scripture: But the Lord is still in his holy temple; he still rules from heaven. He closely watches everything that happens here on earth. Psalm 11:4

Application: As I started reading this scripture, the song by Lindell Cooley “I See the Lord” the line “And His train fills the temple.” describing the vision of Isaiah came to mind. Then, I quickly went to the verse about my body being the Temple of Christ.

Haven’t you yet learned that your body is the home of the Holy Spirit God gave you, and that he lives within you? Your own body does not belong to you. 1 Corinthians 6:19

He is still in me. I don’t see my temple as holy, but because God is in me, I am holy. I need to treat my body as if I am because God still rules. For the past twenty-one years I have lived like I ruled. I have treated my temple badly failing to exercise, eat right or use portion control. In not letting God rule in this area of my life, I have instead mad a god of food and it has ruled over me. I know that despite my poor choices, God has watched over me closely. I need to stop taking it for granted and really allow the Lord to rule from Heaven in my temple in every area.

Response: God forgive me for disrespecting, abusing and misusing my body, Your temple. I repent for allowing food to be my comforter. Lord help me to make You Lord in every area of my life. Fill my temple with Your very presence as You empty me of me.
