We should not be like Pharaoh and chase after control or wealth.
Now it was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled, and the heart of Pharaoh and his servants was turned against the people; and they said, “Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?” Exodus 14:5
The Israelites started grumbling and complaining before they even left.
Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.” Exodus 14:11-12
Lord am I supposed to be Moses or am I really just one of the Israelites?
When we feel trapped by circumstances God will be there to help us get through.
The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” Exodus 14:14
There is a time for praying and crying out to God and then there is a time for action.
And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. Exodus 14:15-16
How quickly we forget the things God does. Three days of crossing the Red Sea, the Israelites were complaining again.
And they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” Exodus 15:22-24
