The Blessings are Closer

I was recently reminded of a Biblical Life Lesson that has carried me since October 6, 2001.  The message was preached by James Payne a visiting preacher at Church on the Rock in Lee's Summit. It starts in I Samuel 16, David is anointed by Samuel and the spirit of the Lord comes on David... Continue Reading →

5-Fold Ministry and the Saint’s Role

Ephesians 4:11-13 says: And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,  for the Equipping (to furnish or provide with whatever is needed for use or for any undertaking) of the saints (patron) for the work (exertion or effort directed to produce or accomplish something) of ministry (To... Take up Your Cross

The New Testament is filled with "take up your cross" Scriptures: Matthew 10:38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. " Mark 8:34... Continue Reading →

The Sound of Breakthrough

Maybe I am sensitive to all things military because my son left last week for his National Guard AIT training.   Maybe because I have a special place in my heart for our armed services because of their willingness to serve.  Regardless, one thing I really heard from our Advancing the Kingdom conference this past... Shadows

Psalms 91:1  He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. The definition of Shadow from Merriam-Webster 1shad·ow  noun \ˈsha-(ˌ)dō\ : a dark shape that appears on a surface when someone or something moves between the surface and a source of light : an area of darkness created when... Idols

I have been reading in I Kings and II Kings over the past few weeks. Last night I was captured by a repeated phase "And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord.  However the high places were not taken away, and the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places." These kings did... Continue Reading →

New Creature

Sunday Pastor Cass was preaching on Who we are in Christ.  He shared II Corinthians 5:17.  I know the verse I can quote it.  Today it really spoke to me.  He read this from a different version than I am used to that stated that we have been in grafted.  God has become so much... Continue Reading →

The Same Sacrafice

Numbers 7:12-88 As I read from Numbers this morning, I admit (It could have been that it was three a.m.) to being a little critical of what I read.   I thought "Why am I reading these same words twelve times in ONE chapter, and then it is finished off with a sum of all those... Continue Reading →

God’s Perspective

I often pray "God, help me to see that person as you see them so I can love them with your love." I think that God gives me glimpses of others, but this week He gave me a true view from His Word. I have been reading in Exodus during my morning devotion and got a view of God's perspective.

Awaken Us

Today I had the opportunity to sit in a local church that was distributing assistance to those in need. When I drove up the place was packed with cars.  People were coming in and out, talking among themselves and eating and drinking refreshments that were provided.  Honestly,  it looked like most churches, most Sundays. I... Continue Reading →
